Ossu everyone!
For the next couple of weeks we will be training for the Allen Fourie Memorial Championships to be held in the Western Cape after a long hiatus due to covid related restrictions.
Sensei Allen Fourie was a true legend and champion of JKA Karate in the Western Cape and South Africa and was responsible for training and mentoring many of the senseis coaching globally today.
With this tournament we honour his memory. Winelands JKA will be the only dojo from Durbanville participating at this tournament.
The students are very excited and are training very hard in preparation for this day. This week we are focusing particularly on Kata and our students will also be performing a Unison Kata on the day.
This is where three karate-ka do that same Kata simultaneously and are judged as a team.
Please come and support Winelands JKA at the Allen Fourie Memorial Championships on the 20th of August at the Richwood Recreation Community Hall.
As the father of modern karate, Gichin Funakoshi, famously said “The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants”
Arigato gozaimasu!!
